The Sandy Spring Lions Club participated in a project organized by Lions Narcy Klag and Alan Ballard on Saturday. The club sent about 8 Lions to a house in Ashton to help the owner, who has been ill, with an unmanagable overgrowth in her yard.
This was happening on the same weekend that Lions were volunteering at Joe’s Ride in Olney and preparing the float for the Olney Days Parade on Sunday, so it was rather hectic.
Overall the project went very well, as you can see in the photos below. We had one riding lawn mower, two push mowers, and three sets of hedge trimmers. We also had a large yard waste dumpster graciously provided by the county.
There is still some cleanup and hauling to be done so we will be organizing a few more days to work on this project in the near future.
